Contraindications and precautions for sound massage with singing bowls
While the benefits of singing bowls are undeniable, it's important to know that there may be certain contraindications or precautions to take before using them.
It is therefore very important to determine whether or not you can benefit from a sound massage using singing bowls, or whether medical advice is required beforehand.
Sound massages can never replace medical or psychotherapeutic treatments, as they are intended solely as a relaxation method.
Please read and respect the following.
Contraindicated in
cases of:
- Metallic implants (pacemaker, stent, any implanted brain or heart stimulation device)
- Epilepsy, especially sound-induced epilepsy
- Psychiatric pathologies
- Recent suture not yet healed / Surgical staples
- Carotid arteriosclerosis
- Open wound
- Inflammation, infection or tumor
- Fever
- Pregnant women (especially during the first 3 months)
- Fracture on the mend
Medical advice is required in case of :
- Presence of a stent or shunt
- Vascular problems (phlebitis, thrombosis)
- Cardiac pathologies
- Parkinson's disease
- Any other neurological disorder
- Depression, anxiety or severe psychological trauma
- ENT infection
Particular attention should be paid to :
- Prostheses or implants (knee, hip, femoral neck, etc.)
- Inflamed joints
- Varicose veins
- Inflammatory skin disorders (psoriasis, eczema, urticaria, etc.)
- Vascular problems (phlebitis, thrombosis, etc.)
- Areas with numerous large scars.
- Children under 7
